After the Interview

Call us as soon as the interview is over.   If you are not interested, letting us know immediately will help you bow out of consideration gracefully without hurting the interviewer's feelings.   If you are interested, letting the interviewer know of your interest will help our relationship be productive, open, and career maximizing.   The lack of feedback to the interviewer gives the impression of a lack of interest and professionalism.   Prompt feedback helps our relationships with our clients, and it helps your chances of getting the job offer you want.

Always send a thank you letter or email.   Feel free to add specifics about what you liked at the interview and reiterate how your skills will enable you to contribute to their organization.   The following format should be helpful:

Dear ___________,

I want to thank you for the time you spent interviewing with me today. From what you have told me about the career opportunity, I know I can handle the work and make a contribution to your department.

I look forward to hearing from you. I am very interested in the position.

Sincerely yours,
